The annual conference of the National Association of Mathematics Advisers will be held at The Sandbanks Hotel, Poole, Dorset, March 15-18, on the theme “Who Counts”. BCME-6: Routes of Unity, a combined conference of all the main UK mathematical organisations will be held at Warwick University, March 30-April 2. Speakers include: Maths Czar Professor Celia Hoyles and Rob Eastaway, expert in creative problem solving, presenter and author.

Cambridgeshire’s education department is holding a conference for teachers called “Creativity Counts” at Peterborough’s Marriott Hotel on February 2-3. Speakers include: Professor John Mason, founder member of the Open University Centre for Mathematics Education, who has written a report on creativity in maths for a QCA project; Hattie The Clown (aka Sue Brown, maths advisory teacher for Harrow); and New London Orchestra, which will explore the link between maths and music.

The Mathematical Association is holding a series of three further mathematics teachers’ courses to help schools introduce further maths at AS-level and beyond.
