Nuffield Curriculum Projects is running economics and business in-service training session for GCSE and A-level teachers. Sessions on The Toolkit (A-level), aimed at new teachers of Nuffield, will take place on April 28, at Leeds University; May 7, Manchester University; May 12, Birmingham; and May 14, The Nuffield Foundation, 28 Bedford Square, London WC1. It will cover teaching and learning approaches, assessment and structure of the stages. Start-up kit sessions (GCSE) will take place on May 19 at Leeds University; June 4, The Nuffield Foundation; and June 25, Bristol. They will examine teaching and learning strategies. Trainee business and economics teachers are invited to prepare a report of up to 1,000 words on the best lesson they have given, and enter it by April 30 for a competition run by the Nuffield Business and Economics Foundation and Collins Educational Publishers. The report should include aims and objectives, teaching strategy, students’ tasks, resources used and an evaluation of the outcome. Top prize is a collection of Collins Educational GCSE, GNVQ and A-level business and economics titles worth pound;200.
