A programme warning primary pupils about the dangers of drugs and medicines that started in Nottinghamshire in 2002 is to be made available to schools around the country.

Aimed at pupils aged six and seven, On Track has been piloted in 12 Nottingham primaries. The project also helps children to recognise danger and to make careful decisions.

The scheme, which includes teacher-training guides, information cards, a DVD and a CD-Rom, as well as books for pupils and parents, will now be available free to primary schools in Nottinghamshire. Other authorities will be able to purchase the materials for a small fee.

On Track is funded by Experian, the information services firm in Nottingham better known for providing online access to credit records.

Experian has launched a similar scheme, Keep On Track, intended for key stage 2 pupils. ab.
