Welsh further education colleges increased their take-up of students from areas of social and economic deprivation by 30 per cent in the past year since funding was weighted to reward recruitment. The Further Education Funding Council for Wales annual report shows a 48 per cent rise in qualifications related to the Government-backed National Targets for Education and Training.
