A national strike over plans to raise teachers’ pension age from 60 to 65 years moved a step nearer this week as the largest union announced it was consulting members over possible action.
The National Union of Teachers is to ask members whether they would also consider other forms of industrial action, or prefer rallies and leafleting.
The consultative survey, beginning on Monday, is a setback for left-wing NUT executive members who wanted to see an immediate formal ballot.
