NUT takes threshold battle to court

THE National Union of Teachers and the Government go to court on Tuesday in a fight over a new duty on teachers to help their heads assess colleagues for the threshold. The duty is contained in the new pay nd conditions document for teachers, published this week by the Department for Education and Employment. The NUT claims it is unlawful; ministers say it is intended only to apply to senior staff.
