AS MEMBERS of a Scottish Office working group, the Scottish School Board Association agreed with the decision to issue a report on the use of refurbished computers in schools. The group included members of the education and business community.

On February 24, the group agreed the final version of the short report and also agreed the guidance to be issued to local authorities. It was the responsibility of the Scottish Council for Educational Technology and SOEID to issue both documents.

It is now 11 weeks since that meeting and I would like to express the disappointment of the three members of the SSBA and the members from the business community in the failure to issue the documents which are crucial to schools in the purchasing of refurbished computers.

I would hope that the new Education Minister will deal with this situation with some urgency.

Ann Hill Chief executive Scottish School Board Association Newall Terrace, Dumfries
