Tony Blair is quite right to point out that he is the first serving Prime Minister to send his children to state schools (“So much progress, but schools must stay top of our agenda”, December 1). But Harold Wilson must take some of the credit. His decision to have his two sons educated at public schools created such an outcry that it is now impossible for any leader of the Labour Party to follow his example.
