Last weekend’s massive march in London was remarkable for many things including the wonderful inventiveness of its slogans.
The banner that seems destined for the poster shops is the quintessentially English “Make Tea, Not War”, but we also liked “Clotted cream not ruptured spleen”, carried by a group of “Cornish Ravers”, and “Old Farts against War”, carried by a bunch of, well, old farts.
Our favourites though were an unlikely knot of protesters marching under the name of Ofsted. Yes, you read that right! The Office for Standards in Education. Their slogan? “Ofsted says - more time for inspectors.”
