Ofsted: less of an ogre and more of an eye-opener

I have been critical of Ofsted in the past, but when we had our inspection about four weeks ago it was pretty positive, and much better than some of our previous experiences.

The new framework is different and it was vastly better than when inspectors would only visit for one day after looking at your test results. Ofsted was with us for two days, observed about 20 lessons and inspectors made their judgments on what they saw rather than on the previous data.

Some schools may not do as well under this framework as the previous one, but that may be because the inspectors are really observing, rather than relying on test results.
