If you found yourself - like me - in the startling position of agreeing with Chris Woodhead, take heart. Think of what he could have said. There was no apology for his manipulation of inspection data, his unsubstantiated denigration of primary education, his blinkered view of “effective teaching” and the bullying, oppressive regime he presided over. Sorry is the hardest word of all.
