Your front-page article (“Top five on training hitlist”, TES, September 27) carries an incomplete and therefore misleading statement, which I am surprised to find is attributed to me, about OFSTED’s right of access to universities which provide initial teacher training.
Let us be clear. Universities which do not allow access by OFSTED will not receive grant from the Teacher Training Agency. That provides for a clear right of access and we shall continue to require this to secure high quality initial teacher training.
