Glasgow King’s Theatre is taking education and the performing arts seriously this panto season with its programme for Sleeping Beauty, which contains a guide to sleep.

There is even a section for teachers which explains that teenagers really do need more sleep, so if they are late for school because they can’t get up in time, it’s not their fault, just their turbulent hormones. And, says the programme, don’t blame them if they fall asleep in class either; teachers should go easy on them.

Thanks to the King’s for producing a hitherto untried excuse for kids coming in late or snoring in class. And will teachers accept it? On no they won’t!

Schools may feel they have pantomimes aplenty already, without their very own sleeping beauties.
