Old blood denied

SO colleges are being encouraged to pension off staff and replace them with new blood (FE Focus, February 25).

Does this mean that it is now clearly established that older teachers perform less well than their younger colleagues? Does advice given by the Further Education Fuding Council comply with the Department for Education and Employment's code of practice on age diversity in employment? What of the Treaty of Amsterdam with its provision on age discrimination?
