Olympic gold medallist Darren Campbell today brought his fight against school sports cuts to Parliament. Mr Campbell, whose team won the 4x100m relay at the 2004 Athens Olympics, argued that Britain’s youngsters cannot afford the loss of the School Sport Partnerships (SSP), worth #163;162 million per year. “The SSP has done so much,” he told a youth sport meeting at the House of Commons. “In many ways, I am so lucky. Young people today do not have excuses and, by these cuts, you are going to give them excuses. If there is no infrastructure, PE teachers cannot be expected to teach thousands of people how to develop.”
