I was astonished to read in TES that the progress of “lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender pupils” will be identified in Ofsted’s new inspection regime (“Wriggle room for ‘failing’ schools as Ofsted says don’t fret”, 30 September).
I cannot imagine that parents will be happy for their children to be asked about their sexual orientation to enable schools to monitor the group. Nor do I think most teachers will be willing to carry out the questioning. I certainly won’t be.
