Chris Moon lost most of his right arm and leg as a result of an exploding landmine. He plans to walk from John o’ Groats to Land’s End in 25 days, the equivalent of 50 marathons in rapid succession. Schools are invited to support his attempt to raise pound;1 million for the disability charity Leonard Cheshire by organising their own events over the summer. For the central activity children will bring in coins to the value of pound;1 to build a “money chain”. Other ideas include barefoot football and a variety of wacky races.
