How should we measure improvement in the future? (16 March)

Strangely enough, I proposed a similar idea back in 2009 in an article published by TESS. Of course, it was berated by most at the time, but maybe the education world in Scotland has caught up ;-)

A health warning (Anne Thrope Ms, 9 March)

So sorry to hear that you are suffering. I love your columns. You are so funny and witty and you say what we all (well, many of us) think. Best wishes and love to you.

Well done for coming out; most teachers just grin and bear it.

I am currently suffering from depression, trying to avoid being put on medication and do not feel being signed off is good, as I will sit at home and stress even more that the pupils are missing out. But I am having panic attacks, my skin is itching and I keep breaking down in tears, and let’s not forget the lack of sleep. I am a teacher and a mum of two. How are we meant to cope with all this?
