The half-page advertisement for the National Union of Teachers claims that it is “dedicated to promoting education” (TES, May 5).

Was it intentional, I wonder, that the accompanying classroom photograph should clearly show two direct questions each without the requisite punctuation? The debate about grammatical standards and trendy versus traditional methods will no doubt continue.
