Paperless electronic data capture may have arrived, but the optical mark reader, around for nearly 40 years, still finds applications. It’s well suited to collecting assessment data - teachers enter grades directly on the OMR form and the reder transfers the data into the computer - DRS machines are compatible with SIMS and other major software. A small primary can rent a machine for about pound;500 a year.
