Orders against parents soar

Statistics on school attendance published this week showed the number of supervision orders served on parents of children not attending school had almost quadrupled in three years.

The figures from the Department for Education also showed the number of school attendance orders had increased from 40 to 56 a year and level of prosecutions from 2,803 to 3,688 a year.
