Off with our heads

As we reported last week, The TES Scotland is awaiting the summons to the tumbril in the shape of the Parliament’s standards committee. It has been asked by MSPs on the education committee to investigate the shocking leak of its special needs report in our issue of February 2.

The TESS’s customary anticipation of events did not impress the members. Education convener Karen Gillon said the leak was “not helpful or necessary” and had “sidelined” the report (this was befor she read last week’s very full account of the findings, of course).

Mike Russell of the SNP said it was “utterly pointless” and showed “a contempt for one’s colleagues” (assuming, of course, that the source was a committee member).

One education committee member looking forward to unmasking this varlet is Frank McAveety, the former local government minister. “I am on the standards committee,” he told his fellow committee members, “so that will be fun.”
