An enjoyable first experience of Africa’s rich linguistic endowment is offered in a new series of videos. The Kelewele Club series shows young people beginning to make themselves understood in two Ghanaian languages, Twi and Ga, and then in Swahili, Hausa, Yoruba and Zulu. The lessons are colourfully presented and there is an element of humour punctuating the necessary repetition. Filmed indoors and out, the classes incorporate music, dance and story-telling to make their contents come alive. Kelewele Club video costs pound;9.99 each from Kelewele Productions, 15 Belmont Terrace, London W4 5UN.
