Out-of -hours classes won’t work;Letter

AS A strategy for improving the performance of boys in English, the out-of-hours classes for 11-year-olds are doomed to failure (TES, February 12).

As the mother of three sons I know the most self-respecting young men would not be seen dead at such classes. They do not wish to be seen requesting or accepting help for their difficulties, which they prefer to mask.
