Out of tune

SO Ms Major wants a shorter working week for music teachers. (TES, March 16). What a load of nonsense. If she thinks she's the only one working hard she should look in on our staffroom at lunchtime - of 45 staff you could expect to find just five or six taking a break.

Starts at 8.30am does she? I arrive at 8amand there are always cars in the car park before mine. As a science teacher I spend 30 minutes on arrival preparing apparatus. To only work two lunchtimes a week would be a luxury.

Ms Major's comments act to divide teachers.
