Film clips from a recent outdoor learning conference, which show how breaking out of the classroom can benefit all corners of the curriculum, have become available online.

There is also an interview with Donnie Macleod of HMIE, on getting young people interested in nature.

The Expand Your Classroom event was held in Perth in March and organised by Learning through Landscapes, the UK School Grounds Charity, better known north of the border through its Scottish programme, Grounds for Learning.

Meanwhile, Grounds for Learning has highlighted the high standard of work produced for an “Exhibition Mission” which encouraged schools across the UK to turn their grounds into art galleries as part of this month’s National School Grounds Week.

One of the most impressive pieces was a giant willow “spider” that hunkered menacingly outside John Paul II Primary in Glasgow.
