I was not surprised by the salaries some in education earn. However, as a learning support assistant, I was surprised at the average teaching assistant (TA) salary: #163;10,402. The article seems to imply that this reflects the fact that many TAs work part-time - but I work full-time, as do my colleagues, and still earn less than this.
I also find it unbelievable (looking at the graphs of men and women’s pay) that, in this day and age, the education sector finds it acceptable to discriminate on the basis of gender!
