Overseas intake push

The Irish Government has announced plans to increase the number of international students in the country by 50 per cent in the next five years. Taoiseach Brian Cowen said it would be worth 1.2 billion euro (pound;1bn) a year to the economy by 2015. Education Minister Mary Coughlan denied that Ireland’s International Education Strategy 2010-15 would lead to Irish students losing out.
