EIGHTY per cent of parents believe their children spend less time playing outdoors than they did when they were young, according to a new opinion poll. And 78 per cent admit that the main reason their children are cooped up indoors is fear that they will be harmed by strangers.The NOP survey, published by The Children’s Society and the Children’s Play Council to coincide with National Play Day last Wednesday, reveals that nearly one-third of parents think there is a lack of parks and playgrounds near their homes.
