PARENTS are staging protests after a local authority stopped offering youngsters a hot dinner at school - even on a chilly winter’s day. They believe that by providing only cold lunches, West Sussex County Council will be breaching the spirit of new nutritional regulations that coe into force on April 1 and strongly recommend schools offer hot food, particularly during winter. Since 1991, seven councils have stopped serving hot lunches in primary schools - Lincolnshire, Hereford, Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Somerset, Worcestershire and West Sussex.
