Pass It On

This can be used to test the memory and listening skills of Year 1 children. While everyone is sitting down the teacher makes a simple movement, for example, clicks fingers together or draws a spiral movement in the air. A child makes that movement, plus adding one of his or her own. No one talks and the game is continued around the class as far as you can go.

* One member of the class leaves the room and the remainder choose an adverb, for example, happily. The child returns and has to find out what the adverb is. He or she does this by asking a classmate to do something that way - for example, “Say hello that way” (the person would then say hello happily). The games continues until the adverb is guessed correctly.
