It must be tough being a sub-editor on your paper. Anything that escapes the blue pencil no doubt attracts email from teachers conditioned to correct grammar and spelling. Perhaps it would be more worrying to get no response. But your article “Flying Dutch show the way” (TES, March 23) contains a gem that should not go unappreciated: the Surrey school “which caters for children of ex-patriots (sic)”. Did they send back their medals? It is a line that could be the inspiration for a cartoon.
