To the Educational Institute of Scotland in Perth to be reminded of the link between environmental and Celtic issues. Jean Miller, a Glasgow delegate, drew a line at speeches recycled from previous conferences - unlike others - and expressed the hope that future annual meetings would be as “green as Bob Dow’s T-shirt”.

Dow, a fellow Glasgow teacher, had Celtic’s famous campaign etched on his T-shirt among other ‘Tic paraphernalia as he strode to the ticket office at Glasgow Queen Street station on his way to Perth.

Naturally, he asked the cost of a return. The ticket seller tossed back his ticket with great relish - “16.90”, he emphasised with marked pronunciation.
