Pension him off

Michael Austin’s sardonic comparison between his college prospectus of 1981 and that of today (FEFocus, April 27) demonstrates how clearly education has been forced to become a commodity instead of the service he joined.

The privatisation of FE (incorporation) in 1992 was seized on by the Austins of the FE world to casualise the ulk of teaching into the hands of agencies, while attacking (and sacking) those who stood in the way of achieving “market domination”. The sooner his ilk is pensioned off, the better for post-compulsory education.
