Pensions service forces woman to prove that she is not dead

A RETIRED teacher in north Wales was prevented from drawing her pension for several months after the pensions office mistakenly recorded her death.

Maria Harding, 62, was informed of her untimely demise when she rang the pensions service to ask why she had not received her weekly payment.

Several hours on the phone eventually convinced them of her health and vigour, and official resurrection will follow shortly.
