The London Borough of Camden has appointed Mohammed Mehmet, formerly assistant director education for Hackney, as assistant director (school and student support) and Gary Peile, formerly assistant director of education for Redbridge, as assistant director (resources).

Ziggi Alexander, director of corporate development at University College Hospitals, has been elected vice-chair of the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work.

Clair Wood, an A-level student at Dixons City Technology College in Bradford, has been awarded first prize in an Institution of Engineering Designers competition for her electronic scales tutor, which helps music students to learn their scales.

Mark Hunt, a design and technology student at Churcher’s College, Petersfield, Hampshire, has been awarded a certificate of excellence by the Oxford and Cambridge Examinations and Assessment Council, for his outstanding performance atA-level.
