Dr Keith Robinson, at present chief education officer for Wiltshire, will become chief executive of the council from April 1.

Dr Elizabeth Nelson, director of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce, has been appointed chair of council at Roehampton Institute, London.

Nigel Chapman, head of Lockers Park School, Hemel Hempstead, will become head of Horris Hill Preparatory School, Newbury, Berkshire, in September 1996, when Malcolm Innes retires.

Maurice Sheen, senior deputy head of Kingswood School, Bath, will succeed the Rev Allan Sanders as head of Reading Blue Coat School in September 1996.

Christopher Hutchings, higher executive officer, Department for Education and Employment and a former student at the Lord Mayor Treloar College for disabled students, near Alton, Hampshire, has been made an MBE.

Dr Mike Coles, who set up the Rio Tinto Zinc Chemistry Programme at the Exploratory Science Centre in Bristol on a three-year secondment from the Brunel College of Arts and Technology, has been appointed education officer of the centre.
