Dr Lindsey Davies, divisional director (policy review and management support) for Northumberland, has been appointed chief education officer for Wiltshire. She will take over from Dr Keith Robinson, who becomes the new chief executive for Wiltshire on April 1.

Frank Pignatelli, director of education at Strathclyde, will become director of manpower services at Associated Newspapers Limited in May.

John Ferguson, director of education for Cambridgeshire, is retiring at the end of the academic year. He intends to work on a variety of projects both in this country and abroad.

Ian Todd, deputy principal of Newcastle College, has been appointed principal and chief executive of the new City of Sunderland College which comes into existence in August with the merging of Monkwearmonth and Wearside Colleges.

Tony Horsfield, a management consultant with more than 20 years of training experience, is the new business development director for the corporate services division at The Open College.
