The New Millennium Experience Company has appointed Maggie Semple, formerly director of education and training at the Arts Council, as UK head of education and the following regional education managers: Julie Bellafante (Yorkshire and Humberside); Chris Blowman (eastern region); Sharon Eastwood (East Midlands); Lynn Fabes (South-west); Carmel Heaney (Northern Ireland); Jenny Paddock (West Midlands); Andrea Petch (North-east); John Senior (South-east); Richard Sharples (North-west); Alison Sinclair (Scotland); and Beth Winkley (Wales).

James Colquhoun, head of Robert Smyth School, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, becomes head of Bishop Stopford Secondary School, Kettering, Northamptonshire, in July. He succeeds Dr Trevor Hopkins, who is retiring after 24 years in the post.

Michael Heath, director general of the Engineering Council, is to leave the council at the end of June.

Peter Wason, director of professional development with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, has been appointed secretary and chief executive of the new Institution of Incorporated Engineers in electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering.
