Lord Mayhew, MP for Tunbridge Wells from 1974 to 1997, is to be the first president of West Kent College in Tonbridge.

Professor David Weir, formerly director of Bradford Management Centre, Bradford University, has become director of the University of Northumbria’s Newcastle Business School upon the retirement of Professor Don Cassells.

Peter Kyle, dean of the Arts Educational Schools, London, has been appointed general director of the International Shakespeare Globe Centre. He will fully take on the role in the summer when he assumes responsibilities currently held by chief executive Michael Holden, who is to remain as a consultant for the final phase of the building project.
