George Waddell has been appointed director of education and children’s services in Perth and Kinross, ending a period of uncertainty over the top post.
Mr Waddell has been acting director following the departure of Bill Frew, a former social worker, who became the first outsider in Scotland to take over the running of an education department.
Mr Frew soon ran into problems which led to the appointment of an outside consultant.
