Young musicians from Renfrewshire, Ayrshire and Dunbartonshire had the chance to work with some of the world’s top young pianists last month as part of the build up to the 2004 Scottish International Piano Competition.

Pupils attended a short concert by 21-year-old Latvian pianist Arta Arnicane, before going to performance workshops at Gryffe High in Houston, Kilmarnock College and Boclair Academy in Bearsden led by Philip Jenkins and Fali Pavri from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama to learn what it takes to succeed as a classical pianist.

The most promising will be invited to the RSAMD in September as part of the performance workshops held during the competition.
