Pick and mix

The research mentioned in "Diversity builds esteem" (TES August 1) highlights the benefits to children of attending ethnically diverse schools. People who attend multicultural universities are rewarded in a variety of ways, too. Socially, they integrate better with their peers and develop stronger cultural sensitivities; studying with other nationalities naturally adds a global dimension to the education experience; and students are more likely to develop firm international networks.
