The research mentioned in “Diversity builds esteem” (TES August 1) highlights the benefits to children of attending ethnically diverse schools. People who attend multicultural universities are rewarded in a variety of ways, too. Socially, they integrate better with their peers and develop stronger cultural sensitivities; studying with other nationalities naturally adds a global dimension to the education experience; and students are more likely to develop firm international networks.
