A pig for Camilla

PG Wodehouse created a famous pig called “The Empress of Blandings”. The owner of Blandings Castle could often be found leaning on the fence, scratching his porker. Hmm. They also have fine pigs at Oathall community college in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and the school hauls in livestock prizes at summer country shows.

It turns out Prince Charles is a friend of the school and often seeks out their stand at shows. The school usually names pigs after heads of department, but what greater honour for Charles’s new bride than a Wodehouse-style namesake? A Gloucester Old Spot called “The Duchess of Cornwall” would be a tribute not to be snorted at.
