I would just like to point out that your September 17 headline, “Panic over on placements”, is incorrect.

As a student teacher, I can tell you that panic is most definitely not over on placements. At the last count, around 40 primary student teachers had not been placed by Glasgow University.

I and many others on my course have missed out on our first week of placement and it looks like we won’t be out on placement next week either.

We have been told that the problem is due to increased numbers of students, staff shortages and headteachers not wanting to take us on.
