I would like to highlight the fact that the proposed new guidelines for Higher biology are disgraceful for several reasons.
Evolution has been missed out, there is no physiology, and environmental issues have dissolved into the mists of time.
Surely biology should focus on the joy of finding out about all living things and related issues, not be channelled down specific routes which will give you a job in medicine, biotechnology or agriculture.
I urge all concerned to read the proposed guidelines at SQA Academy and respond to the questionnaires. Time is short: if we don’t want to be forced down this route, we must communicate our feelings to the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
