Playing to the tabloid crowd

I was appalled to read the article in last week’s TES Scotland by Marj Adams on the filming and photographing of school nativity plays in Edinburgh.

Before putting pen to paper, she might at least have undertaken some basic research rather than taking as gospel the highly inflammatory and entirely misleading views offered by some of our tabloid newspapers.

Her rush to judgment on “Edinburgh’s stupidity”, based on an entirely misguided belief that we had introduced a “blanket ban”, benefits from absolutely no research. I hope that the information she provided for her brother in terms of spending had a greater modicum of accuracy.

Her own school and her authority will no doubt have their own views on the opinions she has expressed in relation to their practices.
