The Association of Colleges said the Migration Advisory Committee overstated the number of institutions allowing students to stay in Britain. It added that colleges were subject to the same inspection regime as universities and that inspectors had judged colleges' provision to be high quality.
Colleges have criticised plans to prevent them offering degree courses which would allow international students to work in the UK after their studies
