An occupational therapists’ union is battling to make shorter waiting times for special-needs children a key election issue in Wales. The College of Occupational Therapists said young people can wait up to four years for an appointment because of a chronic shortage of therapists. It is also lobbying for assistance for student therapists, who are at present graduating in Wales with pound;13,000 of debt.
