Plea on testing

The National Association of Governors and Managers has urged the Education Secretary, Gillian Shephard, to honour the Government's promise to meet the extra costs of this year's national tests.

In a letter, the chairman of the NAGM, Peter Morris, said governors were already hard-pressed to finance essential items.
